Break Away
For sport boaters and fisherman there is nothing more disappointing than being out on the water anchored and when it’s time to leave you cant pull your anchor up. It’s caught on something at the bottom.
Over the years captains have devised a simple fix for this. They change the attachment point from the front of the anchor to the back and then have a secondary attachment location which was the original attachment location. This is held in place by either a zip tie or sometimes a hose clamp. Either way it has to be something that with some force (300 pound pull) the zip tie breaks allowing for the boat to pull the anchor in the opposite direction in which it was holding the boat for the duration of time anchored.
This has been the case for some time. There are many problems with this. The anchor is not designed for this. Not only is it not attractive it does not work properly at times. This leads into miss fires when device breaks when stuck. Some times the chain or rope gets caught around the neck of anchor thus having the “pull out” not work right.
There are many more problems, you are always re applying zips, some times they break when you don’t want them to like when the anchor is being secured in its nest. All of the ties and hose clamps are ending up on the ocean floor.
This new design has no perishable components. If you need to break the device (old zip tie method) it simply breaks with the ability to re fasten with little effort. You are ready to go in very short time. No need to make sure you leave shore with a ample amount of zips.
Nothing more unattractive is a zip tied anchor on the front of you or very expensive off shore fishing boat.
